The end of the Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) year is 31 March 2026

We remind you that all odometers must be checked and the reading recorded after the last time you use a business vehicle on 31 March 2026.

It is a requirement under the current Fringe Benefits Tax legislation that you make a note of the odometer readings for all vehicles made available for the use of an employee during the period 1 April 2025 to 31 March 2026. Directors of private companies are usually treated as employees under the act and therefore are not exempt from this requirement.

If your vehicle is used solely for business purposes or if you are subject to any other concessions, odometer readings generally still need to be recorded.
